296 spaza shops and food-handling businesses in Gauteng have been closed due to non-compliance with registration requirements set by President Cyril Ramaphosa. MEC Lebogang Maile highlighted the widespread issue of non-compliance across municipalities like Johannesburg and Tshwane. The closures are part of a crackdown on illegal and unsafe establishments in the province.
