Residents living near the Vaal River ignore warning to evacuate

Residents in Parys, Free State, along the Vaal River are ignoring evacuation warnings despite rising water levels from the opening of the Vaal Dam’s fifth sluice gate. Residents claim water levels are normal and have not evacuated, including those in Gold Fish Estate. Marie Scheepers stated that despite warnings, residents are not moving and want to make their own decisions.
