Motsoaledi announces R1.78bn budget to create jobs for doctors

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has approved 1,200 doctors’ posts, 200 nursing positions, and 250 other health-care roles at a cost of R1.78bn. Unemployed doctors have protested for jobs, with calls for government action. Motsoaledi cited budget constraints previously but now plans to recruit with a new budget. An additional R1bn will be spent on resources for health-care facilities.
