President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Mcebisi Jonas as a special envoy to the United States to advance South Africa’s diplomatic and trade priorities. Jonas will serve as the official representative of the South African government in response to pressure from the Trump administration. This appointment follows the expulsion of former Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool from the US in March.
