Motsoaledi unveils plans for R1.3bn health-care boost, six new academic hospitals

South Africa to build six new academic hospitals to strengthen health system and prepare for National Health Insurance rollout. Health minister Aaron Motsoaledi announced the plan at a G20 health event, with three hospitals replacing temporary structures and six in new areas. The initiative will bring the total number of academic hospitals in the country to 16.
