Brace for heavy rain, a cold snap and some snow as a cut-off low hits South Africa this week

A powerful ‘cut-off low’ weather system will bring heavy rain, cold temperatures, and potential storms to South Africa from Wednesday to Saturday. The system is expected to cause flooding and infrastructure damage, with some areas receiving over 50mm of rainfall. Free State and North West are at high risk for severe weather. Daytime temperatures will sharply drop before gradually recovering.
