Absa chairman steps down

Absa banking group’s chairman Sello Moloko to step down on 15 July 2025, succeeded by René van Wyk pending regulatory approval. Van Wyk, former interim Group CEO, rejoined the board in 2020 and became an independent non-executive director in 2021. He chairs various Absa committees. Former SARB Registrar of Banks, Van Wyk retired in 2016. Committee roles to be revised upon his chairmanship.
