The US and Saudi Arabia signed a $142bn arms deal, the largest in history, during Trump’s Gulf states visit. Trump plans to meet with Syria’s new leader, offering to lift sanctions in exchange for oil access and reconstruction contracts. This would be the first US-Syria leader meeting since 2000.
