The City of Johannesburg has increased its Free Basic Electricity allocation for qualifying indigent households to up to 120kWh per month, based on household size and vulnerability. This change follows the approval of an addendum to the Extended Social Package policy, aiming to enhance social safety nets and reduce inequality. Over 130,000 residents have registered for the program.
