A report by the Localisation Support Fund (LSF) reveals that Chinese online retailers Shein and Temu have potentially cost South Africa over 8,000 jobs in the past five years. The report highlights that the retailers achieved R7.3 billion in sales in 2024, impacting the local economy with an estimated loss of R960 million in manufacturing sales and thousands of unmaterialised jobs.
