Tropical Storm Erin is heading west in the Atlantic and expected to become a major hurricane this week, per the National Hurricane Center. As of Monday, it was 345 miles west-northwest of Cabo Verde Islands, moving at 21 mph with 45 mph winds. Dry air is hindering its development, but conditions may improve for rapid strengthening by Saturday, with a forecast to reach major hurricane status.
