Three South African police officers were killed in 24 hours, with Sergeant Lauwrence Dumisani Mtshweni, 47, being gunned down while responding to a business robbery in Schoemansdal. The provincial Acting Police Commissioner has launched a manhunt for 10 suspects. The National Police Commissioner condemned the attacks, stating it undermines the rule of law. Six officers have died in criminal attacks since April 2025.
