High-tech plates with QR code, track and trace feature, and tamper-evident security decal unveiled in Gauteng to combat vehicle-related crimes. The plates break apart if tampered with, hindering illicit activities. Each plate will have nine alphanumeric characters identifying the vehicle and expiry year. Rollout to start in six months following recent incidents of cloned number plates.
