Data revealed Khayelitsha, Philippi, Gugulethu, Mfuleni, and Wallacedene as areas with the highest fire-related fatalities, mostly occurring between 9pm and 6am on weekends. Smith emphasized the dangers of handling flammable items while intoxicated. The city’s fire and rescue service faced incidents, including staff being robbed at gunpoint.
