Record $236.3m Klimt leads Sotheby’s first night of auctions in Breuer Building

Sotheby’s inaugural evening auctions at its new Manhattan headquarters raised $605.1 million, marking its highest total ever for a single night. The highlight was Gustav Klimt’s “Portrait of Elisabeth Lederer,” which sold for $205 million, becoming the second-most expensive painting at auction.
