Amid Zimbabwe’s political crisis, hope and frustration brew

In Harare, Zimbabwe, recent antigovernment protests led to arrests of 200 protesters. Residents, like Tawanda Zvamaida in Chitungwiza, supported but did not attend the protests. The country came to a standstill as businesses and schools closed. Protesters demanded President Mnangagwa step down due to corruption and economic struggles following the 2017 overthrow of Mugabe.
