Paleontologists found a 99 million-year-old parasitic wasp with a Venus flytrap-like structure on its abdomen, likely used to trap insects for hosting its eggs. Preserved in amber, Sirenobethylus charybdis was documented by researchers from Denmark and China. The captured insects unwittingly served as hosts for the wasp’s larvae, surprising study coauthor Lars Vilhelmsen.
