Pepkor Holdings reports 80% of prepaid cellular handsets in South Africa sold through its stores, up from 70% last year. Sales of cellular handsets increased by 17% to 6.8 million, with smartphones accounting for 65% of sales. The retailer attributes its success to an expansive store network and a focus on affordability. Pepkor’s trading performance benefited from strong growth in cellular connectivity.
