‘Cybercrime ranks as No 1 risk in SA, overtaking long-standing issues’: expert

Cybercrime is now the top risk in South Africa, surpassing issues like load-shedding and political instability. The Allianz Risk Barometer 2025 reveals that cyber-incidents, including ransomware attacks and data breaches, are the leading global business risk for the fourth consecutive year. The percentage of global respondents concerned about cybercrime has risen from 12% a decade ago to 38% in 2025.
