The 20th IRONMAN African Championships in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, featured a prize pool of over R3 million, attracting 2,000 athletes, including 80 elite professionals. Denmark’s Magnus Ditlev won with a time of 7 hours and 44 minutes, while Germany’s Anne Reischmann secured back-to-back wins. Both praised the challenging conditions and the support from fellow athletes and spectators.
