Eskom granted air quality exemptions under ‘strict’ conditions

SA’s Minister of Forestry and the Environment grants Eskom limited exemptions from Minimum Emission Standards for 8 coal-fired power stations. Exemptions come with strict conditions, including emission reduction measures and health interventions. Two power stations granted nine-year exemptions until decommissioning in 2034, while six others granted five-year exemptions until 2030.
