Zimbabwe has started compensating white former commercial farmers with $3 million, the first payment under a $3.5 billion deal signed in 2020. Finance Minister Ncube stated the payment covers 1% of the total compensation claim of $311 million, for 378 farms out of 740 approved. This move aims to reform the economy and fulfill commitments to former farm owners affected by the land reform program.
