The Western Cape High Court suspended the 0.5% VAT increase set for May 1, citing flaws in the National Assembly and Council of Provinces’ acceptance of the 2025 Fiscal Framework report. Finance Minister Godongwana must cover 50% of court costs for the DA and EFF, with the Assembly and Council covering the rest. SARS Commissioner Kieswetter praised the order for providing clarity on VAT administration.
