Gabon’s ousted leader and family ‘released’ and in Angola

Former Gabonese leader Ali Bongo Ondimba, detained after a 2023 coup, has been released and relocated to Angola with his family. The Bongos, accused of embezzlement, were under house arrest in Libreville. The move followed talks between Angolan President Joao Lourenco and Gabon’s new leader. The family’s release was attributed to diplomatic and legal efforts.
