Agbiz Chief Economist Wandile Sihlobo predicts a short-lived avocado shortage in South Africa, with supplies expected to improve by February. The country’s avocado season runs from February to September, and high global demand in 2024 led to tight domestic supplies. Sihlobo expects prices to moderate as production increases, with over 120,000 tonnes of avocados produced annually for domestic and export markets.
