Government departments can now seek IT services outside of SITA, following new regulations by Communications Minister Solly Malatsi. Departments must prove SITA cannot meet their needs and that private providers can do so faster and cheaper. SITA has 10 days to respond to requests. If it fails to do so, departments can procure services from private providers in line with agency standards.
