Gwarube says 93% of pit toilets eradicated in race to beat deadline

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube reports that 93% of identified pit latrines in schools have been eradicated through the Safe Initiative, following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call to eliminate them by March 31, 2025. Gwarube emphasizes the importance of providing safe sanitation facilities for children’s well-being. Approximately 236 pit toilets remain unresolved out of 3,372 identified.
