Joshlin Smith’s mom opts not to testify after judge dismisses application for charges to be dropped

Kelly Smith, accused of kidnapping and human trafficking her daughter Joshlin, did not testify in court. Judge Erasmus rejected a request to drop charges against her. Defence teams have time to prepare final arguments before judgment is delivered next week. Accused Jacquen Appollis did not seek withdrawal of charges. Judge Erasmus found evidence against Smith and Steveno van Rhyn sufficient for conviction.
