New York helicopter crash was ‘entirely predictable’, say campaigners

Advocates are calling for the closure of New York’s heliports after a tourist helicopter crash on the Hudson River killed a pilot and a Spanish family of five. The chair of Stop the Chop group criticized the age of the helicopters involved. Investigators are determining the cause of the crash, which witnesses described as the helicopter breaking up midair. At least 38 people have died in NYC helicopter accidents since 1977.
