John Frederick Hume, an 83-year-old former property developer and “rhino baron,” was released on R100,000 bail after facing over 50 criminal charges related to an alleged rhino horn trafficking syndicate. Along with five accomplices, he is accused of defrauding South Africa’s Department of Forestry and illegally selling rhino horns to international markets.
