A Mpumalanga municipality has rejected a senior clerk’s resignation amid allegations of stealing R1.3 million intended for Eskom payments. The Lekwa municipality is conducting internal investigations and plans to freeze the clerk’s bank accounts. The municipality, facing a R5.2 billion debt to Eskom.
