Stats SA reported a rise in South Africa’s unemployment rate to 33.3% in the second quarter, with six out of 10 industries losing jobs. The expanded definition, including discouraged job seekers, slightly decreased to 42.9%. Trade and construction saw job gains, while community services, agriculture, and finance faced losses. Statistician General Risenga Maluleke highlighted concerns about US tariffs impacting export industries.
