The Department of Water and Sanitation has warned of potential evacuations for residents near the Vaal River due to dangerously high water levels. Following heavy rains, ten sluice gates at the Vaal Dam were opened, releasing 1,500 cubic metres per second, while the Bloemhof Dam increased its release to 1,300 cubic metres per second.
