Two athletes died during the IRONMAN 70.3 Mossel Bay triathlon due to separate medical emergencies during the swim leg. The first was rescued 400 meters in, and the second at 1,000 meters. Despite immediate medical attention, both did not survive. IRONMAN South Africa expressed condolences and support for the families affected.
