Also known as Aurora Australis, this natural light display in the Southern Hemisphere is caused by solar particles colliding with Earth’s magnetic field, resulting in colorful hues like green, red, purple, and blue in the night sky. Last year, the Southern Lights appeared twice over South Africa.
