SA offers to buy US gas in return for duty-free car exports

South Africa plans to buy $1 billion worth of LNG from the US annually, in exchange for avoiding duties on exports of 40,000 vehicles per year. The proposed deal aims to strengthen trade ties between the two countries following talks between Presidents Ramaphosa and Trump. The agreement also includes US investment in South Africa’s gas infrastructure development.
