Marnus van Heerden, former KPMG South Africa accountant, founded Pineapple in 2018, now a major insurance tech company in South Africa. The company’s technology allows it to offer insurance at 20% of traditional costs. Pineapple secured R400 million in funding in 2023, led by Futuregrowth Asset Management, Talent10, and Mineworkers Investment Company. Van Heerden co-founded Pineapple with others.
