Pepfar-funded HIV organizations in South Africa received letters terminating their grants permanently, citing misalignment with Agency priorities and national interest. They were instructed to cease all activities immediately. USAID funds 44 health projects in South Africa, with the country receiving around $8 billion from Pepfar since 2003.
